Find Osage County Released Inmates

Search for Osage County released inmates by following the record created at each stage of custody. Osage County released inmates may appear in a sheriff release record, a Kansas court case, the state corrections offender search, or a post-release supervision record. A name that no longer appears in a jail system does not prove a return to the community. To look up a released Osage County inmate accurately, identify the holding agency, read the release disposition, and check the agency that may have received the person.

Understanding Osage County Releases

A release record describes the end of one agency’s custody event. It does not necessarily describe the end of every hold, sentence, or form of supervision. The Osage County Sheriff’s Office operates the county corrections facility and records its own bookings, releases, and transports. A person may leave that facility for the community, court, another county, the Kansas Department of Corrections, or another authority. The key question is not merely whether the person left. Ask who received the person and what disposition closed the Osage County event.

Osage County does not publish a current roster, historical roster, or official recent-release list. That makes the originating record more important. The jail can address its custody event, the Fourth Judicial District docket can show the judge’s order, and the receiving agency can confirm a transfer. Kansas VINE supplies county-jail custody updates. KASPER, the Kansas Department of Corrections search, covers state correctional custody and supervision instead. These systems overlap in a custody chain, but none replaces all the others.

Important: “Released by Osage County” can mean transferred to another custodian. Confirm the disposition before treating it as community release.

Osage County Release Types

The same word can describe very different outcomes. Bond usually ends the current jail stay while the case continues. Time served can complete one sentence, yet another warrant or consecutive case may keep the person confined. Probation moves a person into court supervision. Parole or postrelease follows a state prison term and remains under KDOC authority. A transfer ends Osage County’s physical custody without ending confinement.

What Osage Release Records Show

A useful Osage County release record ties the person to a specific booking and describes how the sheriff’s custody ended. Ask for the event, not a broad account of the person. Codes may be terse. If the disposition is not plain, ask the records clerk to define it and identify any receiving agency. A court order shows what a judge authorized; the jail event shows when processing actually ended. Both may be needed.

FieldWhy it matters
Full name and identifiersDistinguish people with the same or similar names.
Booking numberLinks the release to the correct Osage County custody event.
Case or warrant numberConnects the jail entry to the controlling court or agency record.
Release date and timeShows when Osage County custody ended, not necessarily all custody.
Release dispositionSeparates bond, time served, court order, transfer, and other outcomes.
Receiving agencyShows where the search continues after an interagency transfer.

The court docket adds bond orders, judgments, jail credit, probation, dismissals, revocations, warrants, and later orders. For a state-prison term, KDOC records distinguish confinement, parole, postrelease, and discharge. Never report a projected date, parole-eligibility date, or bond order as an actual release event.

Request Osage County Release Records

The Sheriff’s records policy identifies Page One of the Kansas Offense Report and the Register of Persons Charged as open information, subject to stated limits and redactions. It does not promise that every booking photo or custom release report exists. Make a narrow request for existing records and give enough detail to locate the event.

  1. Collect the full name, aliases, approximate booking dates, and any booking or case number.
  2. Use the official Osage County records request form.
  3. Ask for the Register of Persons Charged and any releasable booking or custody-release record, including date, time, disposition, and receiving agency.
  4. Request electronic copies and a cost estimate before charges are incurred.
  5. If a field is withheld, ask for the statutory basis and release of any separable public portion.

Published copy prices are $0.25 per black-and-white page, $1 per color page, $1 per page of copied pictures, $5 for a photo CD, and $15 for a copied DVD. The policy allows up to five days for a photo CD or DVD and says records older than three years may take up to five days to locate and copy. That is a retrieval statement, not a three-year retention limit or a promise that all requests finish in five days.

Kansas Rules for Osage Records

The Kansas Open Records Act begins from public access but contains exemptions. Under K.S.A. 45-218, the custodian must act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day. This is a response deadline, not guaranteed production. K.S.A. 45-219 permits written requests, advance payment, and fees tied to actual furnishing costs. Juvenile, expunged, sealed, investigative, medical, security, and personal information may be withheld or redacted under applicable law.

County retention was not stated in a published Osage policy. Ask whether the booking and release record still exists under the governing retention schedule. Do not infer destruction from the records page’s note about extra retrieval time for material older than three years.

When Osage Expungement Time Starts

Kansas expungement timing generally runs from sentence satisfaction or discharge from probation, community corrections, parole, postrelease, conditional release, or a suspended sentence. It does not necessarily start when someone bonds out of the Osage County jail. Under K.S.A. 21-6614, the wait depends on the outcome, offense, elapsed time, completion of supervision, pending matters, and statutory exclusions.

An expungement order changes official disclosure through statutory channels. It does not guarantee removal of every copy once published elsewhere. The court file and case-specific legal advice are the right sources for eligibility.

Find Released Osage County Inmates

Use a custody-chain search. Osage County has no official online roster or recent-release feed, so the first reliable step is direct jail confirmation. Then follow the facts into VINE, the court docket, KASPER, supervision records, or a federal system. The Released Last 24 Hours page explains the same-day fallback, while Inmate Release Date separates forecasts from completed events.

  1. Call the jail at 785-828-4991. Ask whether the person is held now and, if not, the date, disposition, and destination of the last custody-ending event.
  2. Check Kansas VINE for a participating county-jail status or notification event.
  3. Search the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal for the Osage case, bond action, judgment, sentence, or transfer order.
  4. Use KASPER when sentencing, KDOC custody, parole, or postrelease is possible.
  5. Check Court Services or Community Corrections for probation, and KDOC for parole.
  6. Submit the county records request when the public channels do not resolve the event.
  7. Use BOP, ICE, or the federal docket only when the case or hold points to federal authority.

A no-result never proves release. Check spelling, aliases, identifiers, the correct Kansas county, and the relevant agency. Osage County, Oklahoma results are a common false path.

No Osage Recent-Release Feed

The official county sweep found no current roster, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, or historical release archive. Osage County News publishes booking and courthouse roundups, but those entries concern arrests, charges, or warrants. They can help locate a case. They cannot establish release. For a fresh event, combine a jail call with Kansas VINE. For an older event, use the court docket and a focused records request.

Osage Supervision After Release

Probation is imposed by a court instead of, or following, confinement and is checked through the sentencing record, Court Services, or Fourth Judicial District Community Corrections. Parole and postrelease are KDOC supervision. Osage is assigned to the Topeka Parole Office. KASPER does not provide a complete current view of newer community-corrections events, so the court and actual probation agency matter. The Parole / Probation page gives the local routing details.

Osage VINE and Federal Checks

Kansas VINE covers participating county-jail custody and offers status notifications. It excludes people housed in KDOC prisons. Register only after matching the right person, save the registration details privately, and treat an alert as a prompt to verify the event with the jail. The VINELink Release Check explains the person-specific steps.

For federal prison custody, the BOP Inmate Locator may show a release date or “Released” status for covered records. That addresses BOP custody, not supervised release, county custody, ICE, or a new case. Federal pretrial detainees can be held through the U.S. Marshals Service in local or contract facilities. ICE’s locator concerns current immigration detention and is not a historical release archive.

Choose the system by legal custodian. One portal’s silence does not clear another agency.

Osage County Detention Facility

Only one detention facility was confirmed in Osage County: the Osage County Law Enforcement Center / Corrections Facility. The Sheriff’s Office operates it for local bookings and also houses people for outside agencies. A departure may be community release, court transport, transfer to KDOC, or return to the sending authority.

Does Bond Mean Osage Release?

The Sheriff’s Corrections page says all bonds will be set within 48 hours. It does not publish a bond schedule or promise release within that period. Setting the amount, satisfying bond, clearing other holds, and completing jail processing are separate events. Verify the signed court order and the actual custody-ending entry.

Osage Release Orders in Court

Osage belongs to the Fourth Judicial District. The district offers the statewide portal and courthouse public-access computers. The local court page says criminal matters are heard on Mondays and Tuesdays, while its directory separately lists the clerk and Court Services contacts. Use the docket to connect a vanished jail event with a bond order, dismissal, sentence, probation placement, warrant, or transport order.

Getting Home After Osage Release

Osage County General Public Transportation is demand-response service, not a fixed-route jail shuttle. It operates Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., charges by mileage, and is first-come, first-served. A person or family may call 785-528-4906 in advance to ask whether a trip is possible. The county does not promise jail pickup, same-day availability, or service at night or on weekends.

Osage Jail Transfers After 2025

Corrections moved from the old 702 Ash Street jail to 131 W 14th Street in March 2025. Historical records can therefore name the former site. Official county pages also differ on capacity: one says up to 120 people, while the facility history describes 124 beds. Preserve both figures rather than selecting one.

The new facility’s outside-agency housing model makes the custody chain central. When a person held for another county leaves Osage County’s physical count, they may have returned to the sending authority. County staff also perform court and other-jurisdiction transports. Ask which agency owned the case or hold and where the person went.
